Overview
The north ridge of the Fleischbank is one of the best-known and most beautiful routes in the Wilder Kaiser. This long and varied tour is aimed at fit climbing beginners with some experience on rock who are ready to take the next step into alpine terrain. The route follows the striking north ridge to the summit of the Fleischbank over several pitches. Well-protected climbing sections alternate with easier walking terrain, providing regular opportunities to enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Kaiser Mountains. The route is exposed in places but never extremely difficult, making it ideal as an introduction to alpine multi-pitch climbing with an experienced mountain guide. The descent involves abseiling down the Herrweg, completing a full and memorable alpine experience.

Sure-footedness, a head for heights and sufficient stamina for a tour lasting six to eight hours are required.
To climb the Fleischbank via the north ridge, you should be athletic and have a good general level of fitness. Some previous rock-climbing experience, either indoors or outdoors, is required, as is the ability to move confidently through pathless alpine terrain. This is a long tour that combines climbing sections from UIAA grades II to IV with easier walking terrain.

Tour Programme
We meet at the agreed meeting point and begin with an equipment check. The approach initially leads towards the Stripsenjochhaus. We then climb the varied Fleischbank North Ridge together, beginning with a short chimney before reaching the ridge itself. Stepped terrain leads to the Fleischbank pillar, followed by a longer section of walking terrain. We then reach a steeper rock barrier, which is climbed along a ramp at lower UIAA grade III. The ridge becomes steeper and more exposed once again before we finally reach the summit of the Fleischbank. From the summit, we enjoy magnificent views across the heart of the Kaiser Mountains. The descent involves several abseils and sections of downclimbing along the Herrweg before returning to the valley. The highlights of this tour include a famous ridge climb in the heart of the Wilder Kaiser, suitability for athletic climbing beginners with good general fitness, an exciting combination of climbing and mountaineering, and an abseil descent via the Herrweg.
