Young Alpinists Team

The Young Alpinists Team is a programme run by the Austrian Alpine Club Youth to support young talents in mountain sports. Every three years, ten young adults are given the opportunity to become part of this team, learn from world-class alpinists, travel together in the mountains, and share unforgettable experiences.

I was part of the third team from 2020 to 2022 — a time filled with intense mountain experiences that helped me grow as an alpinist and learn a great deal from my mentors. One of the highlights was our final expedition to Peru, where we established new climbing routes in the Cordillera Blanca.

Today, I am now a mentor myself, accompanying young alpinists and passing on my knowledge and experience. Together with one of my best friends, I eventually made the decision to begin training as a mountain guide.

Becoming a Mountain Guide

After being accepted into the mountain guide training programme, an exciting journey began — three years filled with intensive mountaineering, skiing, and climbing.

This included preparing for courses, taking exams, studying theory, and practising with friends and family, who had to serve as my “first guests” along the way. Thanks to this, I was able to complete the first part of the training successfully and became an aspirant mountain guide in July 2023. During this period, I was already guiding numerous guests — both in summer and winter.

Since summer 2024, I have been a state-certified mountain and ski guide, and I practise this unique profession with great joy and passion.

Mountainrescue Reutte

I have been a member of the Reutte Mountain Rescue Service since I was 17. For me, mountain rescue is not only a voluntary commitment, but also something that comes naturally — in the mountains, we look out for one another.

Through numerous rescue missions and training courses, I have gained valuable experience that also benefits my work as a mountain guide.

Motivation

Whenever you do something with passion, dedication, and true commitment, you do it well. That is why becoming a mountain guide came naturally to me — and why I was able to turn my dream into reality.

Every day in the mountains brings new challenges and new opportunities. Perhaps that is exactly what makes mountain sports so fascinating. When we are out in the mountains together, we face these challenges side by side and make the most of every opportunity.

I was born in 1999 in the Tyrolean Außerfern region — the place where my passion for the mountains first began. Since childhood, I have spent countless days exploring this impressive alpine landscape, laying the foundation for my path as an alpinist and mountain guide. One experience that shaped me in a very special way was being part of the Young Alpinists Team.
