Rocktober – Autumn alpine climbing with a mountain guide in Tyrol

Enjoy excellent rock on south-facing climbing routes at the most beautiful time of year. The Lechtal and Tannheimer Tal, together with the area around the Arlberg, are a true climbing paradise.

The best climbing days in Tyrol are often in autumn.

The mountains are full of colour, the weather is often stable, temperatures are pleasant and the summer crowds have left many routes. In my home mountains, in the Lechtal and Tannheimer Tal as well as the Lechquellen Mountains, these days are particularly rewarding: on the south face of the Freispitze, on the Rote Wand, on the south pillar of the Rockspitze or on the south faces of Gehrenspitze, Gimpel and others.

Frequently asked questions from my guests

What happens if the weather does not cooperate?

Together, we will find an alternative in another region or postpone the tour. There are no additional costs for you in this case.

Is rental equipment available?

Yes, I can provide the technical equipment you need, such as a climbing harness, helmet, crampons or avalanche safety equipment. The relevant tour description and equipment lists explain exactly what is required and what you may need to bring yourself. If you are unsure what you need, simply get in touch – I will be happy to advise you.

Do I need previous experience for a tour with a mountain guide?

No, previous experience is not always necessary. Many tours are suitable for beginners.

My programme is divided into three difficulty levels to help you quickly identify a suitable tour:

Easy – For beginners with little or no experience in the respective mountain sport.

Intermediate – For experienced mountaineers and athletic beginners.

Difficult – Specialist tours that require a high level of experience, fitness and personal responsibility.

This gives you guidance from the outset, whatever your starting level.

How many participants can one mountain guide take?

That depends on the type and difficulty of the tour. For ice and rock climbing, difficult alpine tours involving ridge climbing or steep snow slopes, I can take only one or a maximum of two guests. For ski tours and ski mountaineering tours, groups of 4 to 6 people are possible, depending on the difficulty. If you would like to do a particular tour with more participants, I can arrange another mountain guide.
