About this tour

“Canadian Dream” in the Travenanzes Valley in the Dolomites is an absolute highlight for ambitious ice climbers. This impressive route offers five to six pitches of steep climbing in one of the most breathtaking landscapes of the Dolomites. Even the long approach through the Travenanzes Valley is an experience in itself. Depending on the ice conditions, different climbing variations are possible: the right side of the icefall offers more demanding, steeper lines, while slightly easier options can be found on the left. The descent follows the route by abseiling from ice threads. If the conditions on “Canadian Dream” are not ideal, the valley and the surrounding region offer numerous other ice climbing options. The tour can also be perfectly integrated into a multi-day ice climbing trip through the Dolomites and combined with other classic routes in the region.

Itinerary

We may travel together the day before to Cortina d’Ampezzo and continue from there to the entrance of the Travenanzes Valley. The tour begins with a relatively long approach along a forest road into the valley. The final section to the start of the route is off-trail. Climb, abseil, return to the car — and look back on the experience over a beer.
